Notification Preferences: Choose What Wakes You Up

Per-event-type tuning, per-channel selection, and the digest as the default for low-urgency activity.

The default notification settings are a compromise: useful enough that important things ping, restrained enough that the bell doesn’t become noise. /settings/notifications is where each user tunes the defaults to their actual workflow.

Per-event-type settings

Every event type the platform fires has its own row: deal-room-message, offer-received, sla-approaching, asset-stage-advanced, dispute-filed, escrow-released, watchlist-outbid, etc. For each, the user picks a delivery channel: in-app only, email immediately, digest only, or off.

Per-channel timing

For email, two timing options: immediate (sends at the moment the event fires) or digest (rolls into the next morning’s summary). Critical events (escrow-deposit-overdue, dispute-filed) default to immediate; low-urgency events (watchlist-outbid) default to digest.

Quiet hours

A quiet-hours range (e.g., 22:00–07:00) suppresses email and push notifications during that window — they’re held and delivered with the morning digest. In-app notifications still arrive (they don’t buzz a phone), so when the user logs in next morning the bell shows the night’s activity.

Bulk preset

Five role-based presets: Warehouse Ops (heavy on stage advances and SLA, light on deals), Sales (heavy on deal rooms and offers, light on warehouse), Finance (heavy on settlements and disputes), Admin (everything, immediate), Quiet (everything to digest only). Pick a preset, tune the few rows that matter, save. Setup time: under five minutes.
